Hush Hush is proud to welcome Tacoma, WA-based duo Clay Beds to the family to present their self-titled debut release <3
Clay Beds is the collaborative project of John Anderson and Hailee Rogers. The duo met and began recording and playing music in Boston in 2013, re-locating to the Pacific Northwest in 2016. Both John and Hailee have unveiled unique solo works as Pon(d)scum and Xaxu, respectively, yet their combined efforts under the newly-launched Clay Beds moniker signals their strongest and most accomplished material in their fledgling careers.
Whimsical, wet, and wonderfully weird are a few words that come to mind while listening to the six tracks found on Clay Beds' debut release. All created and produced while forming roots in their new rain-soaked home of Tacoma, Clay Beds' initial offering confidently combines John's experimental electro-acoustic production talents with Hailee's evocative choral-tinged vocals in kaleidoscopic and enveloping fashion. There's strong hints of gauzy dream-pop, intricate electro-pop, and aqueous psych-pop seeping through each song, yet moments of hip-hop, R&B, and trap are craftily folded into moments along the way, allowing each track to exist in its own distinctive zone.
A distinctive, bold, and thrilling inaugural release that's best experienced rather than merely described, Clay Beds are the latest local Pacific Northwest act to find a home on Seattle/Carnation label Hush Hush Records. Grab a pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and get lost within the glistening sonic landscape of Clay Beds.
